Son strangles mother in Tshepisong
A 30-year old man was arrested this week after he allegedly attacked his mother and strangled her.
A man was arrested by the Kagiso Police after he allegedly attacked and assaulted his own mother in Tshepisong.
Captain Solomon Sibiya, Kagiso Police spokesperson said the 30-year-old man will be appearing in the Kagiso Magistrates’ Court after he was arrested on Tuesday, 29 September.
The victim told police that her son attacked her at about 1.40pm on Tuesday.
He manhandled and strangled the victim whilst pushing her against the wall unit. A struggle ensued, and the victim screamed for help. She managed to get the suspect off her,” Sibiya explained.
The son allegedly then reached for a knife that was on a table but his mother managed to escape and get out of the house.
“She later called the sector police who responded swiftly and arrested the man.”
Brigadier Themba Maduna, the Kagiso Police station commander said, “Attacks on defenceless women and children will not be tolerated and must be condemned at all costs. These are vulnerable groups that must be protected at all times. I wish to applaud my members who responded swiftly and saved the victim.”
Sibiya said the suspect has been charged with common assault.
