The EFF supporters are chanting liberation songs. The street has been blocked off to traffic while police officers are keeping a close eye on the march.

The protest comes hours before President Jacob Zuma presents his State of the Nation Address (Sona).

Early this week the EFF vowed to disrupt the Sona, describing Zuma as “a delinquent”.

The Sona is expected to get underway from 7pm on Thursday.
