Update: EFF member’s murder case docket goes missing
After the murder of EFF member, Monde Kweyama, family members, friends and fellow EFF members who attended court proceedings were told the murder case docket had gone missing.
Kweyama’s sister-in-law, Raylene Martin said during the court appearance last Thursday, they were told that the case’s docket had disappeared, Randfontein Herald reported.
The first court date was set for December 31, 2014. It was then postponed to January 8 for a bail hearing.
It was alleged after the court proceedings, Kweyama’s family members, friends and fellow EFF members took to the streets and walked to Randfontein police station, where they demanded answers.
Police then directed them to the detective office in order to retrieve the docket, where it was then found.
The reason for its disappearance was said to be an administrative fault.
Kweyama was stabbed to death in front of his son on Christmas Day.
When police arrived at the scene, they were told Kwenyama (33) had been stabbed but was taken to the emergency services.
However, he was declared dead upon arrival at the centre, police said.
The 32-year-old suspect is believed to be well known to Kwenyama.
The case is expected to resume on Thursday.
