The massive search for Slavko Yaksic Besoaín, a Chilean national who went missing in South Africa, ended after his body was found in Ladysmith, Ladysmith Gazette reports.

Slavko (29), who was backpacking around South Africa, was found dead 11 days ago by Ladysmith police.

On Friday, October 12, a man’s body was found at Matthews Farm, which lies between the Ladysmith industrial area and Steadville.

It is believed that Slavko was murdered at his campsite near Matthews Farms, where he was stabbed three times.

Slavko’s father, who identified his son’s body on Saturday (October 20), spoke to the Ladysmith Gazette.

He said, “I am profoundly sad, but at the same time calm, with a feeling that Slavko was a very happy person, especially these last years. He had an enviable spiritual growth and an emotional maturity that, for all of us, generated a tranquillity by only seeing him.”
