Woman shot in attempted robbery
An elderly woman has been shot in the elbow by a group of armed men during an alleged robbery in Glenhills, KwaZulu-Natal.
The incident happened on Elderberry Drive at about 3pm on Sunday afternoon, Northglen Newsreported.
It was unclear whether the shooting was an attempted house robbery or hijacking, police added.
Police added four suspects in a white vehicle with an unknown registration were involved.
The unidentified woman was rushed to Umhlanga Hospital.
No arrests have been made.
In a separate incident, a 28-year-old woman was shot and wounded when four men allegedly confronted her and her husband with a firearm in Pretoria in December last year.
Police spokesperson Lieutenant Linda Jerling said the woman and her husband arrived at their complex in Wonderboom South at night when the armed men demanded money from them.
“While they were waiting for the remote gate to open, a vehicle parked behind them. The four armed robbers got out of the vehicle and took the woman’s handbag, car keys and a cellphone, and fled,” said Jerling.
The woman reportedly did not know she had been shot and only realised after inspecting the pain under her right arm. The woman was taken to hospital.
Cases of armed robbery and attempted murder were opened, but no arrests have been made.
