Acid attack leaves Charlottedale teen severely scarred
Eighteen-year-old Londiwe Thabethe has been left traumatised after the attack.
A Charlottedale teenager has had to be hospitalised with severe burns to her face and upper body after having acid poured over her on Sunday, February 12.
Allegedly the result of a fight with another teenager, the acid burns have left 18-year old Londiwe Thabethe traumatised and with severe scarring across her body.
A 46-year-old woman was arrested on a charge of attempted murder.
“The suspect appeared in KwaDukuza Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday and will appear again on April 25.
The arrested woman is allegedly the mother of the teenage girl who had been in an argument with Londiwe.
This incident went viral last weekend when photos of the injured girl were published on Facebook.
Londiwe is a matric pupil at Groutville High School.
Her mother, Jabu, said all she wants is justice for her child.
“Londi was taken to the General Justice Gizenga Mpanza Hospital where she was treated and discharged. We were not happy with the service at the hospital. Through social media, we managed to get help and she is now admitted at Ngwelezana Hospital in Empangeni,” said Jabu.
She thanked everyone who had been supporting them since the incident happened.
“I am short of words to express my gratitude to all who have been donating and offering help. I hope my child will get better and justice be served,” she said.
