The magical world of Lifebaby infant health & wellness

Your baby's first experience of water therapy should be an overwhelmingly positive experience, setting them up to always love water and for swim readiness.

If there is magic in the planet, it is contained in the water, and at LifeBaby Ballito you can expect to find magic in its purest form.

Innocent giggles followed by little splashes and blowing bubbles, LifeBaby strives to better the health and wellness in all our babies through the power of the water.

The unique water therapy concept grants babies access to water in a sterile and warm environment, promoting many incredible emotional, physical and cognitive health benefits.

The North Coast Courier Editor, Lesley Naude, recently visited LifeBaby to get a feel of what they had to offer.

This was her experience:

I had the privilege of visiting the new Lifebaby Infant Health & Wellness centre at The Well in Ballito with my baby.

It’s basically like a spa for babies! They even get massages – I was so jealous while Ruben (11 months) enjoyed his full body massage.

Before we arrived, Marizka advised that my boy have a feed before the session as well as a nap.

They provided the towels and swim nappies, all you need to bring is the nappy bag with a extra top up feed as they tend to be thirsty after their session.

The wellness centre focuses on water therapy for babies from two days old to 30 months.

The facilities were lovely, very clean and the room super warm so Ruben did not mind having his clothes off at all.

The premise behind the therapy is that both massage and flotation in warm water are efficient methods for reducing pain and discomfort caused by gas, colic, bloating and constipation.

They also reportedly reduce muscular tension, growing pains, teething discomfort, and cramping.

The little babas get a funky flotation device that suspends them safely in the water for the duration of the session.

But as Ruben had never tried this before, he was now too old to try it as it may have freaked him out. Instead he was taken for a swim in the heated pool.

He was in his element! He splashed and kicked like crazy, was thrilled with all the toys on offer and even laughed when he had water poured over his face.

The aim is to get baby to enjoy being in the water, which makes it easier to learn to swim later down the line.

They also encourage basic water skills like kicking and holding onto the side.
