Taking care of your four-legged fur-friends at Ballito Veterinary Sport Behaviour and Medicine

Dr Malcolm de Budé has a special interest in physiotherapy, pain control and traditional Chinese veterinary medicine for animals, among many other offerings.

Ballito pet owners will be excited to know that there is a new vet in town who is pulling out all the stops to ensure your precious fur baby receives the best long-term treatment available.

Dr Malcolm de Budé, who recently relocated to Ballito, has officially opened his Ballito Veterinary Sport Behaviour and Medicine (BVSBM) practice at Willow Park, putting decades of experience working both in SA and abroad to excellent use.

Taking an integrated approach, Dr de Budé provides state of the art physical rehabilitation, physiotherapy, pain control, sports medicine, conditioning, weight control, pet geriatric wellness, acupuncture, behavioural veterinary medicine, and traditional Chinese veterinary medicine (TCVM).

These services are intended to perfectly complement those of the surrounding veterinary practices giving pet owners more options.

“My idea is not to be competition to other vets in the area, but rather an added extra,” said Dr de Budé, who is all about spending sufficient time with his patients and clients, allowing him to make their quality of life his priority.

Dr de Budé is a member of the International Veterinary Academy of Pain Management (IVAPM) and a member of the world association of TCVM, and was drawn to this line of work through his love of studying animal behaviour.

Among his many offerings is physical rehabilitation, physiotherapy and pain control.

He combines the best of modern scientific veterinary medicine with traditional Chinese medicine including acupuncture and some Chinese herbal medicine.

“This gives pet parents a greater choice of what they feel is best.”

To add to this, his warm, welcoming nature, good sense of humour, light and cozy practice and stellar team, are a winning combination.

“No matter whether you prefer modern veterinary medicine or a more holistic approach, you will feel welcome in this practice.”

BVSBM will have various packages on offer, including:

  • Three, six or 12 sessions of acupuncture or physiotherapy
  • Geriatric wellness pet packages
  • Sporting and conditioning packages, eg: one package would be an initial evaluation followed by either three or six months emailed conditioning exercise programmes. There is a also a 12-month package on offer.

Dr de Budé will also be offering home visits every Monday.

“It is all about doing what I love doing while making a major difference in the quality of life of pets and their people.”

He is also the only local vet offering VacciCheck tests, ideal for knowing whether your pet needs to be vaccinated. This helps to reduce vaccination failure and prevents over-vaccination consequences.

BVSBM is currently taking clients, however due to construction scheduled to begin soon at the neighbouring office, Dr de Budé will be offering limited services, and will also be open earlier to accommodate clients with anxious pets that may not cope well with the noise.

To book a consultation, email malcolmda@telkomsa.net or call 082 3737721.

BVSBM is situated at Willow Park in Ballito.
