We move, and so should you

A first for Ballito, We Move Active will be hosting a holistic-approach-based tri-athlon on October 19.
Not only will it include a 5km run/walk/skip, a one-hour yoga session with Helen Garner and a 30 minute mediation session with Penny Slein, it will also introduce a healthy, active lifestyle for the younger generation.
The tri-athlon will be held at Crawford College North Coast, with participants ridding the surrounding environment of plastic which will at the end of the day be collected by Litter for Tokens.

The inspiration for the tri-athlon has been a concept conceived by We Move Active owner, Paula Martini which dates back just over a year. Martini said the goal was not only to get people moving but also to raise awareness regarding several social issues.
A part of the funds generated through ticket sales will go toward Subz, a non-profit organisation that combats the lack of access to sanitary wear for schoolgirls.
“For every 200 people who support the tri-athlon we can assist 10 girls with sanitary wear for three years,” Martini said.
For every ticket sold, R5 will also be donated to Crawford to assist with various social projects and an additional R5 will go toward the Pink Drive.

“We have dubbed the tri-athlon ‘Ethica’, because everything we do is focused on the ethical value of it, with all our sponsors and contributors sharing this vision. The event is open to all ages and both men and women, boys and girls are welcome.”
You can look forward to spot prizes to the value of R10 000 sponsored by Hi-Tech and, if the event proves successful, Martini says that it could become a regular occurrence. Registration starts at 5.45am and the tri-athlon will begin at 6.30am. Early bird tickets are R180 while standard tickets are R220 per ticket. Tickets at www.wemoveactive.com.
