Wellness Warehouse stocks way more than wellness

Ballito Junction houses the most recent branch of Wellness Warehouse.

Established in 2007, Wellness Warehouse has become one of the most recognisable health and well-being retailers in South Africa.

The brand is the brainchild of brothers Sean and Carlos Gomes, who combined their passion for medicine and retail to create a space where discerning customers can find everything they need to live life well under one roof.

With years of success in the industry and a demand that continues to grow, Wellness Warehouse has expanded its presence from the Western Cape and Gauteng to include its first KZN store at Ballito Junction.

CEO Simon Alston shares that a corner-store of the brand’s success is its Wellness Consultant programme, which offers customers access to personalised in-store health and well-being advice.

“Our consultants hail from a range of different backgrounds – from naturopathy, phytotherapy and homeopathy to nutrition, fitness and somatology,” explains Alston.

Wellness staff also undergo a comprehensive education and development process to ensure that they are best equipped to serve customers.

Another facet of the business to which Alston attributes success is the fact that they employ a team of professionals dedicated to checking the labels of all products before stocking them, so customers can rest assured that they are investing in the highest quality ingredients and formulations.

Shoppers can also take pride in the knowledge that they are supporting the local, ethical and sustainable small-batch manufacturers and suppliers showcased by the retailer.

Included in the wide product offering is the trusted Wellness own-brand offering, which includes carefully formulated health supplements, cruelty-free natural beauty essentials, nutrient-rich superfoods and eco-friendly household solutions.

With a current total of 29 stores nationwide and 31 by the end of the year, Wellness is excited to be branching out to the KZN market.

“We hope to become the one-stop health and well-being shop for Ballito residents looking for anything from quality health supplements and organic and real foods to natural beauty products, eco home solutions and natural baby care,” shares Alston.

The store is proving successful in its aim thus far.

“We have been pleasantly surprised by the welcome we have received from the community. The store is already well frequented, despite having been open for less than a month. It’s encouraging to see how our clientele is growing by the day,” enthuses Store Manager Mary De Stadler.

As is characteristic of Wellness Warehouse staff, De Stadler has a strong background in the holistic well-being field.

“As a registered dietician, I was naturally drawn to the Wellness Warehouse offering, and am grateful for the opportunity to share my knowledge with customers, helping them to make informed choices for their well-being,” she concludes.
