Ballito Medical Centre makes the move to Salt Rock
Now called The Salt Rock Medical Centre, it sits at the New Salt Rock Shopping Centre in Shop 19, right between Woolworths and Checkers.
The Ballito Medical Centre which has been seeing to the community’s needs since being opened by Dr Neil Isaacs 23 years ago, has moved from the Well to Salt Rock.
Now called The Salt Rock Medical Centre, it sits at the New Salt Rock Shopping Centre in Shop 19, right between Woolworths and Checkers.
Dr Isaacs believes what is most needed in the medical industry right now is an all-round approach.
From aviation class 1-4 medical checks by Dr Richard Dunning, to skin cancer screening by Dr Helena Nothnagel, who should be proud of starting Beacon of Care, an organisation that will be based at the Salt Rock Medical Centre but is a separate entity in itself, that provides palliative, home-based care, the centre is able to treat the whole family from pediatrics to the elderly, while keeping strong family values at their core.
With a special interest in diabetes, Dr Isaacs said, “A multidisciplinary approach is crucial for treating chronic diseases. Guiding lifestyle changes and medicals on an individual basis given our current environment is important to reduce costs to protect patients from unnecessary tests.”
They also do Discovery vitality screening for all Discovery members with their diabetic nurse educator, Michelle Bodlall and vitality fitness assessments by a biokineticist, Tarryn Stening-Smith as well as a dietitian, Sharon Hultzer, visiting podiatrist, Dinesh Deonarain and ophthalmologist, Dr Yavische Reddy as part of a comprehensive team approach.
Dr Isaacs runs a travel clinic and enjoys attending medical conferences to keep up to date with the most current medical knowledge.
In 2019, he spoke about cricket batting related injuries and improved performance at the World Cricket Conference at the World Cup Cricket Tournament.
The biomechanics of cricket batting has captured his attention to the point that he is writing a book on the subject. In his spare time he enjoys cricket coaching on a limited basis.
The athletic doctor is also an avid squash player. He says that he works hard on trying to keep up with his son, Scott, who he plays league squash with.
Along with his two daughters, Anne and Gwendolyn and wife, Kim, their family has been a great team in helping set up the Salt Rock Medical Centre.
The Salt Rock Medical Centre is open weekdays from 8am to 5pm, Saturdays from 8am to 1pm and Sundays and public holidays from 9am to midday.
