Umhlali Prep tech project sees students design cellphone towers fit for the future

The children were tasked with creating the towers from recycled materials with a brief to blend in with the local environment.  

Umhlali Prep’s Grade 7 is full of future engineers who made interesting cellphone tower designs as part of their Technology class.  

Rocco Rocha and Nonhle Nyathi considered practicality and design, giving the tower arms for better signal distribution.

It was a test of both construction and creativity and the pupils took full advantage, making a variety of different designs.  

Damaris Sivigobind and Sophie Witthoft made a design complete with a background, showing how it could fit into the surrounding scenery.
