Even shattered glass reflects beautifully in the sun.

Epitomising this metaphor is Samantha Subban, the marketing and events manager of Brettenwood Estate.

Samantha began her career in estate management at the age of 22, a field that was emerging at the time but is now integral to the North Coast.

Estate management runs in her family, her sister Maril is also an estate manager. Showcasing their strength in sisterhood, they encourage each other to excel in both their personal and professional lives.

Over the past 18 years, she has had the privilege of contributing to the development of two prestigious estates, and is now thriving at Brettenwood, which she regards as paradise.

“The community spirit is remarkable. I am part of a team that values my individuality and allows me to shine as a strong woman,” said Samantha.

Community upliftment is central to her identity, and knowing that Brettenwood proudly collaborates with local organisations that share this commitment is deeply fulfilling. They support initiatives such as the Breakthrough Centre in Etete, which fosters community development; the Red Movement, which addresses period poverty; Sizani School, which promotes educational growth; and CROW, dedicated to animal rehabilitation.

As a woman in leadership, Samantha believes true strength comes from being authentic and compassionate. While stereotypes often paint kindness as a weakness, she knows that leading with compassion requires immense strength.

“Life’s experiences, both positive and challenging, have shaped me. Even shattered glass reflects beautifully in the sun, so never give up, for it is these imperfections that make you unique.
