How the Ballito community shaped Barry Chapman’s plumbing’s journey
Chapman Plumbing is built on integrity, community and a commitment to reliable service.
As The North Coast Courier celebrates an incredible 40 years of dedicated service to the community, Chapman Plumbing owner Barry Chapman reflects on his own journey.
Having lived in Ballito since 1987, Barry said he has had “the privilege” of growing up in a community that shaped him both personally and professionally. For him, the North Coast has always been more than just a place to live, it has been a source of inspiration, connection and pride.
Barry’s plumbing career began in 2004 when he joined his first plumbing company as an apprentice. After spending time working in the bush on a game reserve (he remains an Ezemvelo honorary officer to this day), he returned home to complete his apprenticeship, qualifying as a plumber in 2010.
Shortly afterwards, he partnered with his mentor and friend, the late Hylton Ras, whose guidance and belief in him played a significant role in shaping the plumber and business owner he is today.
In 2022, Barry took a leap of faith and founded Chapman Plumbing, a company built on integrity, community and a commitment to reliable service.
Today, the business proudly serves Ballito and the greater North Coast, offering quality plumbing solutions to both residents and businesses.
Serving the very community that has supported him throughout his life remains one of Barry’s greatest honours.
Just as The North Coast Courier has connected and uplifted the region for four decades, Chapman Plumbing is committed to doing the same, through honest workmanship and a truly local heart.
“Congratulations to The North Coast Courier on 40 years of outstanding service, here’s to the next chapter of growth and community partnership,” said Barry.
