A vehicle used in a recent local farm attack was caught on the Salt Rock automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) cameras and three men arrested on Saturday.
The men were believed to have been involved in a farm attack which was reported to KwaDukuza SAPS on April 4.
Following the attack, the vehicle used was loaded onto the SNIPR global database and an alert was received when the vehicle passed one of the Salt Rock ANPR cameras.
Ballito Neighbourhood Watch (BNW) chairperson Candice Henderson said the vehicle was spotted, pursued and one arrest was made immediately.

“Further follow up from the Umhlali SAPS Task Team members resulted in the arrest of a second and third suspect, along with recovery of the farm attack victim’s stolen shotgun and rifle,” said Henderson.
“Special recognition to SAPS, Z2 Security, Hawks Security, IPSS Security, Kobus from McCarthy Risk and KDM.
Great teamwork by all role players.”
Henderson said this was a major success for the Ballito and Salt Rock Neighbourhood Watch, ward six and 22 Community Policing Forum and RE/MAX Dolphin Realtors #Saferstreets project.
“Had it not been for the ANPR cameras, these farm attackers would still be on the streets tonight,” said Henderson.
“Thank you to RE/MAX Dolphin Realtor’s Simon and Kim Peacock and their incredible team. This could not have happened without your decision to support us.”
