Stanger cops seize 1 700 bullets

KwaDukuza SAPS Station commander Brigadier Sbongile Mhlongo commended the task team on the recovery of the rifle and ammunition.

A tip-off from a community member and the swift reaction of the SAPS on Wednesday led to KwaDukuza SAPS successfully seizing a total of 1 700 live rounds of ammunition in Stanger after raiding a property in Ntshwawini.

Shortly after 4pm on December 18, members of the SAPS raided the property only to find that it had been abandoned. A rifle was found, including a large number of live rounds for pistols, shotguns, rifles and other weapons).

“Police officers recovered a 303 rifle, 103 unidentified capsules and a laptop,” said KwaDukuza SAPS communications officer, Priya Nunkumar.

KwaDukuza SAPS Station commander Brigadier Sbongile Mhlongo commended the task team on the recovery of the rifle and ammunition.

“Well done to the KwaDukuza task team on their outstanding work in removing the firearm and ammunition from the streets of KwaDukuza during the Festive Season,” she said.

“We urge the community to play an active role in keeping each other safe by reporting all illegal activities and contacting KwaDukuza SAPS to report tip-offs.”
