Security guard killed for his gun in Shaka’s Head

KZN police spokesperson Captain Nqobile Gwala said Umhlali police were investigating the murder.

A 35-year-old IGS security officer was shot and killed by the Shaka’s Head Industrial Park on Sunday – three months after a security guard was killed for a firearm in Tongaat.

Sphamandla Dlamini was murdered by unknown men while on his way to pick up his crew.

After they shot him on the neck and arm, they took his work firearm and fled towards Shaka’s Head township.

IGS group director Stuart Weston said they were shocked by Dlamini’s death and they hope that police will be able to apprehend the people behind his murder.

“He was such a good guy, always wearing a big smile, as the company we have lost one of our hard-working armed response guards,” said Weston.

KZN police spokesperson Captain Nqobile Gwala said Umhlali police were investigating the murder.

In August 43-year-old security guard, Mervan Govender, was shot and killed in Tongaat outside Golden Sun Supermarket in August.

Govender, who was working for Jikelela Security, was shot on his head before his work firearm was taken.
