Saps hunt down two men for murder in Sundumbili streets

Gwala said one of the men was found in possession of suspected stolen goods.

The two men suspected to be behind the cold-blooded murder of a man in the streets of Sundumbili township last September were arrested last week.

Saps charged the men with murder and possession of suspected stolen property last Thursday.

One (29) was discovered hiding in a flat in the Durban Central CBD and the second (43) was arrested at his home in Sundumbili, Mandeni.

The men allegedly shot and killed Andile Sabela Dakane on Somuhle Road next to a Sundumbili clinic.

Police spokesperson Captain Nqobile Gwala said the 33-year-old had been shot in the abdomen and was taken to hospital where he later died.

“On Thursday, iLembe Crime Intelligence, the iLembe Task Team and Sundumbili police officers embarked on an operation in KwaDukuza and surrounding areas.”

Gwala said the man in the flat was found in possession of suspected stolen items including two laptops, USB, 32 bank cards and five SASSA cards, payslips, passports and identity documents.

Both men have been on the run since September.

They appeared at the KwaDukuza Magistrate Court on Monday.
