VIDEO: Two people killed in KwaDukuza taxi war

A man was also shot as he drove by while the shooting incident occurred, he was later declared deceased in hospital.

Two people died during an alleged taxi-related shooting on Balcom Street in KwaDukuza on Wednesday evening.

KwaDukuza police spokesperson Priya Nunkumar said a man was driving his vehicle on Balcom Street when he was allegedly ambushed by several suspects, armed with rifles.

“A shootout occurred between the suspects and the victim, fatally wounding one of the alleged suspects, who was in possession of an AK47 rifle which has been recovered from the scene.

“The suspects fled, leaving behind the getaway vehicle. Two R5 rifles were also recovered.”

A resident of KwaDukuza was also hit in the crossfire as he was driving past.

He was later declared deceased in hospital.

Cases of murder and attempted murder have been opened at KwaDukuza Saps, and are being investigated by KwaDukuza Detectives.
