Two illegal guns found hidden in man’s bed in Maphumulo
The man appeared before the KwaDukuza Magistrate's Court on Monday.
A Maphumulo man was hauled from his bed yesterday when he was found sleeping with illegal weapons under his pillow.
Provincial police spokesperson constable Thenjiswa Ngcobo said police found the 53-year-old man sleeping in a house in Emthandeni with two illegal firearms.
“A revolver, homemade rifle and six rounds of ammunition were found hidden in his bed. Upon interviewing him he failed to produce a license for his firearms,” said Ngcobo.
He was charged with unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition.
The recovered firearms will be subjected to ballistic testing.
