KwaDukuza traffic officer shot multiple times while trying to stop armed robbers
The wounded man will be airlifted to hospital.
A KwaDukuza traffic and crime prevention officer is fighting for his life after he was shot multiple times on the N2 this morning.
It is believed that he was trying to stop criminals, who had just robbed a cellphone store at the KwaDukuza Mall.
“Currently the southbound lane is closed, but the northbound lane is open,” said Samantha Mayrick from IPSS.
KwaDukuza Mall manager, Siyabonga Tembe confirmed that a cellphone store had been robbed.
“No one was injured at the store and we hope that the people responsible will be caught soon,” said Tembe.
A helicopter has since landed on the N2 southbound in order to transport the patient to hospital.
The highway will be reopened as soon as possible.
