KwaDukuza crime statistics remain high
The KwaDukuza police precinct tops the list of rape cases, and also recorded the most murder cases.

According to the second quarter crime statistics released by the SA Police Service, KwaDukuza police station appeared among the 30 stations with the highest number of cases countrywide.
The statistics reflected cases reported between July to September this year.
KwaDukuza recorded 241 robberies with aggravating circumstances, 64 robberies in residential areas and 169 burglaries in residential areas.
Another local station featuring prominently was the Tongaat police station, with 36 attempted murder cases, 13 more compared to the same time last year.
The number of rape and murder cases reported across the iLembe region is a cause for concern.
The ten iLembe stations and Tongaat recorded 128 rape cases and 126 murders.
KwaDukuza topped the list of rape cases with 29, followed by Umhlali with 19, Sundumbili 15, Nyoni 12, Ndwedwe 13 and Tongaat and Maphumulo with eight each. Newark and Nsuze recorded seven rapes and Mandeni four.
KwaDukuza also recorded the most murder cases with 29, Umhlali 23, Tongaat 19, Ndwedwe and Sundumbili 13. Nsuze reported 11 cases, Maphumulo nine, Mandeni five, Newark two and Glendale and Nyoni one each.
