Motorist shot and killed on N2 at Umdloti

The man was confronted by unknown gunmen who shot him.

A man in his mid-thirties was shot and killed at the Umdloti off-ramp on the N2 this afternoon.

According to reports a family was travelling on the highway in a convoy of two cars when one vehicle ran out of fuel.

Paul Herbst of Medi Response said the second car left to get petrol and left the other car and its owner on the side of the road.

“Unknown suspects allegedly emerged from the bush on the roadside and shot the man once before fleeing,” said Herbst.

Despite efforts of medical personnel to stabilise the wounded man, he passed away at the scene of the shooting.

This incident comes after a 38-year-old man was killed and his colleagues injured after picking up hitchhikers on the N2 before uThongathi Toll Plaza last Monday.
