Truck driver shot in hijacking on N2
The truck was later found in the sugarcane fields near KwaDukuza.
A truck driver was shot and seriously wounded when he was hijacked on the N2 northbound lane near KwaDukuza this morning.
According to reports he was confronted by six armed men who, after shooting him, left with the truck.
It was later found stripped of its cargo in a sugarcane field on the outskirts of KwaDukuza.
According to Dylan Meyrick of IPSS Medical Rescue, the driver was found in a serious condition and stabilised at the hijacking scene before being rushed to hospital.
KwaDukuza police spokesperson Siphesihle Myeni said police are investigating a case of armed robbery and attempted murder.
