Two stabbed in Ndwedwe hijacking, search for suspects ongoing

The men were lucky to escape but sustained stab wounds to their legs.

Two construction workers were stabbed and a third assaulted in Ndwedwe this morning, before being bundled into the back of their bakkie and driven away.

While working on a cellphone tower at around 11.30am, the three men were attacked by an unknown number of assailants carrying knives.

The victims were robbed and two were stabbed in the leg before being forced into their work bakkie.

“The one victim was able to jump out of the bakkie, a Ford Ranger double cab, and we picked him up on the side of the road,” said Ensure Security regional manager, Kyle van Reenen.

“Both other victims escaped when the bakkie was dumped. It was later recovered too.”

The two men who were stabbed were treated by ALS paramedics on scene.

One suspect had been caught and arrested at the time of publication.

“The search for the rest of the suspects is ongoing with the help of Saps, K9 units and air support,” said Van Reenen.
