KwaDukuza police have launched a murder investigation after a 31-year-old municipal employee was found shot dead in her vehicle in the early hours of Friday morning.

According to iLembe police communications official, Priya Nunkumar-Bukum, the woman suffered two gunshot wounds to the head and neck. Her body was discovered inside her car on the Zinkwazi Link Road at about 1.30am.

The victim was employed by the KwaDukuza municipality, though her identity has not yet been officially released.

No arrests have been made at this stage.

The municipality is expected to issue a formal statement in the coming week.
