TREE branches out with Chamber
A partnership between the Ilembe Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Tourism and a Durban-based organisation is set to benefit thousands of children.

The chamber signed a memorandum of understanding with Training and Resources in Early Education (TREE), an early childhood development resource and training organisation, on Friday.
Chamber CEO Trenley Tilbrook said the partnership, through the chamber’s women in business forum, would allow them to work with 20 crèches in Ilembe.
“We are looking to roll out a three-year programme, which will cost around R400 000 a year. We will work with TREE, using their facilitators, to positively impact young lives in our district.”
TREE director Bertha Magoge said early childhood development is vital to give children the strongest possible foundation to develop.
“At TREE we are all about ensuring each child we reach is given access to quality early childhood intervention. We are hands on in the communities where we work, going door-to-door to find the most vulnerable children and empowering them through facilitation.”
Magoge said they are looking forward to working in Ilembe.
Tilbrook said 10 crèches have already been identified through Christ Church North Coast.
“Now that the memorandum has been signed we will start sourcing funding and using our networking leverage as the chamber to bring the community on board.”
