Ravi rallies Ballito writers guild

Durban author Ravi Govender shares the secrets of his art.

The Ballito Writers guild met last Thursday at the Ballito library and had successful Durban author Ravi Govender let them in on a few tips.

“Do not hesitate. Write. Put it on paper,” said Govender, whose book Down Memory Lane has done well in South Africa and can now be found all over the world. The book is comprised of 35 stories from his column in The Post that went under the same name.
Govender spoke about his childhood love of reading and how his writing stemmed at first from love letters to girls. He went on to stress the importance of marketing a book, citing some of the things to watch out for, such as dodgy editors.
“Your most important man, other than yourself, is your designer. He is going to make your book look good.”
