Six alleged burglars stand trial

The men appeared in Ndwedwe Magistrate Court yesterday under multiple charges.

Six men from Ndwedwe are facing multiple charges of housebreaking and being in possession of stolen goods and unlicensed firearms.

Sbusiso Doda Makhanya (31), Thembinkosi Ndlovu (30), Njabulo Majozi (21), Nhlanhla Mgobhozi (28), Madoda Buthelezi (28) and Kusakwendoda Luthuli (33) were arrested on Sunday and Monday by the Phoenix Crime Intelligence and Ndwedwe SAPS.

Mgobhozi, Buthelezi and Luthuli were found in possession of stolen goods including televisions and guns. Their alleged partners were found with a stolen a car, three unlicensed firearms, live ammunition, and bank cards.

The six appeared in Ndwedwe Magistrate Court yesterday and their case was postponed to October 14.

According to KZN SAPS spokesperson Capt Thulani Zwane the men were arrested after Ndwedwe police raided their homes. He said they were hoping the state will challenge the men’s bail applications so that they remain behind bars.
