The Bhamshela Thusong Service Centre in partnership with other government departments hosted an open day last Friday in Ndwedwe.
Their open day was also to commemorate social development month and to celebrate the bronze award which was won by Bhamshela social development (BSD) at the Premier’s Service Excellence Awards 2013.
“This award came from hard work and dedication of all our staff members. We are humbled by the award because it means that we are not just about providing reasonable social development for our communities, but doing our jobs well,” said BSD manager Nombulelo Mhlongo.
Mhlongo’s team also won a gold departmental award of excellent service in 2013 and she said this was despite their office having limited resources compared to their urban based counterparts.
“We are a strong team and that shows through the quality of service we produce.”
The centre is a one-stop service centre providing information and services to communities. It provides a variety of services rendered by departments such as home Affairs, social security agents of South Africa (SASSA), social development, labour, library services and the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC).
