Junior rock stars
Two of the youngest musicians to be endorsed by the Tradelius Music Group.
Two pint-sized North Coast dudes are making waves in the local music scene.
Guitarist Saiyan Naidoo (9) and drummer Sabian Lee Singh (9) are two of the youngest musicians to be endorsed by the Tradelius Music Group.
The two best buddies recently performed at the newly opened Musicians Gear Zone in the Ballito Business Park and soon attracted an audience with their renditions of classics like Dire Straits’ Sultans of Swing, The Eagles’ Hotel California and Pink Floyd’s Brick In the Wall.
Sabian Lee spared a few minutes for a quick chat while bouncing around energetically behind a gleaming Pearl Vision.
“Playing drums is so much fun. I would do it every day if I did not have to go to school. My favourite song to play is ‘In the Air Tonight’ by Phil Collins.”
He counts Los Angeles legend Vinnie Colaiuta as his inspiration.
Flashing a mischievous grin Saiyan recalls the first time his grandfather, Sydney, showed him an acoustic guitar around four years ago.
“When I grow up I want to be the best guitarist in the world, nothing else. I love to play Knocking on Heaven’s Door because my grandpa taught me how. I want to play like Mark Knopfler from Dire Straits.”
Saiyan and Sabian Lee will be performing at the launch of Musician’s Gear Zone and open day on October 26.
Owner of the first major music store in Ballito, Donovan Rasch said the fun will start at 8am.
“Everyone who loves music is welcome to pop around and have a listen. We are also planning to establish a music school in Ballito.”
