Teaching on Trauma Day
Alberlito Hospital staff visited RA Padayachee primary school in Umhlali.
In recognition of World Trauma Day on Thursday, October 17, the trauma unit of Alberlito Hospital paid a visit to RA Padayachee primary school in Umhlali.
Along with the staff from the hospital, Umhlali SAPS’s K9 unit and the KwaDukuza fire department, the team held demonstrations and short talks on emergency situations and how they deal with them.
Despite the drizzly weather, the students enjoyed the presentations and were treated to a lunch prepared by the Alberlito team.
The manager of the accident and emergency unit Pam Parmanand,set up the excursion to pay tribute to emergency personnel all over the world.
“That is why we tried to incorporate both the police and the fire department,” she said.
The unit chatted to pupils about safety, general hygiene and treating cuts, wounds and burns.
“We were privileged to be here today, it is great to be able to reach out to the community, that is what it is all about for us,” said Parmanand.
