Slithering snakes!
Our local Black mambas will feature in a documentary on Nat Geo Wild on DSTV.

Ten local black mambas are on their way to international stardom.
A documentary detailing their behaviour will premier on the international television stage this Sunday after being filmed on our own doorstep.
Local reptile fundi Neville Wolmarens, together with Durban based film company Earth Touch, spent nearly a year recording the behaviour of black mambas in a natural environment, the results of which will be aired on DSTV channel Nat Geo Wild on Sunday, January 12 at 5pm.
The documentary, which covers everything from mating and combat, to egg-laying and hatching, focusses on ten large black mambas given free reign in a spacious natural enclosure at Ndlondlo Reptile Park.
“We have done some other projects here as well, but this is the flagship production. Earth Touch are good, real top class guys,” said Wolmarens.
After spending a lifetime working with the animals, Wolmarens stepped outside for a moment during an interview with the Courier on Tuesday to catch a monstrous Forest Cobra that had found its way into their chicken coop.
He casually fished the snake out of the hen house and guided it into a bag, chuckling when it tried to strike at him.
