Soups and socks pour in!

The community gives generously.

Donations have been rolling in for the North Coast Courier Orphan Fund’s Soup, Socks and Snuggles winter campaign.

The Orphan Fund has been overwhelmed by the love, generosity and support the community, especially its schools, have shown towards their initiative in such a short space of time.

The count, so far, coming from collection boxes at supermarkets and schools including Hillbilly Preprimary, Curro Mnt Richmore, Umhlali Prep and Crawford North Coast as well as Warm our World stands at approximately 2000 soups (tins and packets) and 550 blankets. Over and above this are great bags full of socks and warm clothing too difficult to count. “It has been like receiving the good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over. ” said the Orphan Fund Secretary, Rose Stephenson.

The campaign is being wrapped up at present and final counts will be done when the schools reopen. In the mean time the Fund is distributing the bounty to those who need it.

If you are a community project in need which has escaped our attention please contact Rose on 032-9460276.
