Ballito biker’s death prematurely announced

Two bike accidents results in confusion.

The death of a Ballito man was prematurely announced yesterday after Netcare 911 sent out an inaccurate press release.

Netcare 911 spokesperson Chris Botha apologised for the mistake.

“There was another bike accident but in a different area where the rider had died,” he said, which was the cause of the confusion.

Shane Collins (49) died in the early hours this morning in hospital.

Yesterday Collins was driving his motorbike when he collided with a bakkie on the M4 outside the Zimbali contractor’s entrance yesterday morning.

The accident left him in a critical condition.
