Much of the Shakaskraal, Sheffield, Salt Rock and Chakas Rock area has been without power since 1am due to a blown transformer.
But the good news is KwaDukuza’s Nick Hall hopes to have power restored within half an hour.
“Eskom informed me that one of their transformers failed at the Shakaskraal substation and they urgently needed to replace it. So at 1am the power was turned off. The job was meant to take only three hours. But it took much longer as they replaced a lot of other faulty equipment,” said Hall.
He said the KwaDukuza team had been working hard to restore power since the Eskom job was completed.
“Power has already been restored to some areas and we hope to have everyone up and running in the next half hour.”
