Tshelenkosi Secondary School in Shakaville was closed today after a pupil was shot yesterday during a riot at the school gate.

The school governing authorities met today to discuss the issue.

According to KwaDukuza SAPS communications officer constable S’busiso Khumalo a group of pupils had arrived late to school and according to the education department’s policy the school gates were locked.

The pupils allegedly then went on the rampage and during the commotion a male pupil was shot in the leg.

Const Khumalo confirmed that cases of attempted murder and damage to property had been opened.
