Community day and Potjie cook off for Miss Ballito finalists
The girls spent a day with 37 children from Summerhill House and raised R4520 at their Potjie cook off.
The Miss Ballito finalists proved that being a beauty queen is about more than a sash, stilettos and a crown.
The girls spent Saturday with 37 children from Summerhill House, one of their beneficiaries.
The fun started at Flag Animal Farm where two hours were spent running around and playing with the animals.
An afternoon at Cane Cutters Resort followed and the girls took part in activities with the children, including painting and cupcake decorating.
The day ended with the much-anticipated potjie cook-off, which brought the finalists’ cooking skills to the fore.
Divine smells wafted through the resort as girls cooked up a storm with their friends and family.
Through entry fees and the sale of potjie plates R4520 was raised.
Judges Jonathan Crichton, Lewaine von Allemann, Jarred Tanner, Heidie Smith and Marc Tanner selected Seleshini Moodley as the potjie princess, with Erin Dickson coming in second and Kirsten Martins third.
Organisers thanked the community for their support, especially the platinum sponsor SMD Group. The girls will also be out and about at the Ballito Street Heroes this weekend.
Tickets for the crowning evening are available from Sonja at swe@yebo.co.za or contact 082 821 6850. The crowning takes place at Collisheen Estate on October 17.
