Umhlali’s gymnast stars

Umhlali Preparatory pupils, did exceptionally well in the national rhythmic gymnastics competition

Erin Wilkins and Danielle Fletcher, grade four pupils at Umhlali Preparatory, both did exceptionally well in the national rhythmic gymnastics competition on May 31.

The girls participated in level three, which requires a routine to be completed in both the ribbon and clubs disciplines. Erin Wilkins came first overall in her age category (10 and under) with a gold medal score of 22.95 overall and Danielle Fletcher also qualified for a gold medal score coming fifth overall with a score of 22.10. Both Erin and Danielle also went on to obtain medals in the group entries with Erin and her partner obtaining the bronze medal and Danielle and her partner achieving the gold medal.The girls both belong to the Bluff Rhythmic Gymnastics Academy.
