Four teams vied for victory and cash prizes when they delivered their group presentations to judges in the Deloitte Business Challenge on Saturday.
The groups, guided by iLembe Chamber mentors were tasked with identifying ways to eliminate, reduce or recycle waste being generated from businesses in the Ballito area.
In addition to tuition and individual assignments, group work and group mentoring was introduced to encourage business problem solving, team cohesion, competitiveness and creativity especially in a group context.
“In business it is not always about you and your businesses. We have to be sensitive to group dynamics, be able to postpone gratification, and work together to help each other succeed”, said iLembe Chamber CEO, Cobus Oelofse.
Deloitte judges evaluated the group presentations on simplicity of the solution, ease of implementation, the potential impact on the environment and presentation skills. The A Team was thrilled to be rewarded top accolades for their waste management solution and walked away with R3000 to be donated to the existing small business development or entrepreneurship programme at a school of their choice plus R500 for each team member.
“I am filled with admiration. From my perspective, the standard of presentation was excellent”, said Ilembe Chamber mentor Chris Voysey.
