Ntshawini crime fighter killed

Isaac Gumede was found with three bullet wounds, at his home, after neighbours heard gunshots.

Ntshawini crime activist Isaac Gumede was murdered last Wednesday.

Gumede was found with three bullet wounds, at his home, after neighbours heard gunshots.

Glendale-born Gumede was well-known for his dedication to fighting crime. He wrote for local newspapers and was an active member of the local CPF.

He was a member of the KZN Community Against Crime.

Since Gumede chose not to work and devoted his life to fighting crime his wife Rachel Mthembu said they are facing financial difficulties with his funeral, which they had planned for the weekend.

“There are people who promised to help however at this time we have not received anything,” said Mthembu.

KwaDukuza municipality mayor Ricardo Mthembu appealed to the community to assist.

“As residents we are willing to help and we appeal for any one who can help to help this family,” said Mthembu.

KwaDukuza SAPS communication officer Sbusiso Khumalo said no arrests had been made.

“The motive for the murder has not yet been established,” said Khumalo.

To help Gumede’s family you can contact KZN Community Against Crime member Wilson Zulu on 073 468 4137 or Rachel Mthembu on 079 216 8388.
