Taxi accident victim only discovered the next day

He spent a night down a 150 m embankment.

A man in a critical condition was discovered 150 metres down an embankment in Inanda this morning.

It later was discovered that when the taxi he was traveling in was involved in an accident last night, he was thrown from the vehicle and not found by emergency services.

Paramedics rescued the other occupants, not realizing someone was unaccounted for.

IPSS Medical Rescue Paul Herbst said the paramedics on scene had not known that the man was unaccounted for.

“This morning he was found by a group of men hunting in the area. Durban Search and Rescue, Durban K9 Search and Rescue and IPSS used a rope rescue system to reach the man and pull him to safety.

He was then taken to hospital.
