Brutal double murder in New Ark
Couple shot, torched while children hid in bathroom.
A couple was brutally murdered last week near New Ark, Mandeni while their terrified children hid in the home.
Madoda Mgenge (54) and Nombuso Xulu (47) were sleeping in their Hlomendlini home when a group of unknown men shot and killed them, before torching them.
Their children survived the incident after hiding in the toilet and later reported the murders to neighbours.
No arrests have been made and the motive is still unknown.
Community safety and transport MEC Willies Mchunu condemned the murders.
“We are disappointed at this unfortunate incident. We condemn it and we will follow it until there is an arrest. I would like to call the KwaHlomendlini community to give police an opportunity to work on this matter so that those responsible for this act should be brought to book.”
