Fitness Fanatic
From graphic designer to trainer and owner of Get Fit Ballito and Durban North.
“If you are passionate about something, life will always bring you back to what you love and what you are good at,” said Natalie Dennis.
This quote aptly explains the life of the Get Fit Challenge Ballito and Durban North studio owner and trainer, and dancer.
Starting out as a graphic designer and website developer her passion and love for everything health and fitness took her in a completely different direction.
“You will not be fulfilled unless you are doing what you love,” said Dennis
Fitness and health has always been in her blood starting her dancing career at the age of 12 as a Freestyle dancer and later in Latin and Ballroom.
After school Dennis longed to pursue a career in dance and fitness but she felt she needed a degree and a ‘proper’ job to fall back on.
Luckily her employers allowed her the flexibility to still be able to compete nationally and internationally in Latin, ballroom and freestyle.
In 2008 Dennis competed at the Freestyle World Championships in Blackpool, London, and placed third in the world.
In 2009 she placed eighth in a dance reality TV show ‘The Last Waltz’. She also holds five South African dance titles.
“When I came back to Durban Neil du Plessis, the owner of Get Fit, was my neighbour and he suggested I try the 12 week challenge. I just fell so in love with fitness, health and the amazing brand and its team that I decided to study further.”
“The challenge is not only about fat to thin transformations. We have athletes as well as ordinary people.”
Dennis did a diploma in Exercise Science and left her nine to five job to join the Get Fit team – bringing her back to her passion.
At the beginning of last year, three years after joining the team, Dennis brought Get Fit to Ballito.
“Every single day we are changing people’s lives. It is the most rewarding job in the whole world. I never feel like ah no I have to go to work. There is a high you get helping, training and pushing people to reach their goals.”
