National Cupcake Day a success
Cupcakes were sold at 55 malls across KZN, raising a whopping R1 226 928.

Saturday was brightened and sweetened up by the beautiful and oh so delicious cupcakes on sale for National Cupcake Day for kids with Cancer at the Ballito Lifestyle Centre.
Cupcakes were sold at 55 malls across KZN, raising a whopping R1 226 928.
This event is organised annually by the non-profit Cupcakes of Hope as a community driven project.
Even in the bad weather this initiative was well supported locally.
Cupcakes flew off the table quicker than the cupcake angels could replace them, while the children had a blast decorating their own cupcakes with sprinkles and hundreds and thousands.
The Miss Ballito finalists and the Ballito Dolphin Rugby club also got involved with a raffle for one giant cupcake as well as a “Bail me out” fundraiser. As prisoners they were arrested for various reasons by Phillip Wolmarans and Ashleigh Robyn and placed in “custody”. Bail was set at R200 per prisoner and they had to plead their cases and convince the public to bail them out.
A few inmates escaped but when they were re-arrested their bail money was doubled!
“To all the cupcake angels that donated the most beautiful cupcakes, to all the volunteers that helped on the day, and to all the supporters, I would just like to thank each and every one of you for the most amazing effort everyone put in! Without you the day would never have been such a success.” said organiser Lewaine von Allemann.
