Umhlali SAPS attended the following crimes last weekend.

• A Shayamoya resident was held up at gunpoint on Saturday at his house by a group of man. Items valued R3200 were taken.

• A man in Etete was found with serious facial injuries on Saturday near a tavern, he could not remember his identity or the circumstances of his injuries.

• On Saturday a 26-years-old Shakashead resident was stabbed in his chest and his arm with a sharp instrument.

• A group of Shakashead residents were held up on gunpoint inside a tavern in Shakashead by two men on Saturday. Cellphones and money were taken.

• A 37-years-old women was raped on Saturday night in Shakashead. The women was coming from Nongoma to visit his boyfriend in Tongaat, she ended up in Ballito with no transport to Tongaat. A truck driver offered her a place to sleep in Shakashead. The place was unlocked and during the night she saw someone walking out with her bag. When she followed to get her bag back a man forced her back inside the house and allegedly raped her.

• On Sunday a man in Shakaskraal was attacked with a bush knife outside of a nightclub.

• A Shayamoya resident was stabbed twice in the back and he was taken to Stanger Hospital.

Due to renovations the Umhlali police are temporarily relocating the charge office and as a result one phone line will be working for the next two weeks. Colonel Dieter Fittkaue urged residents to be patient and call back if the line is busy. The station also urged residents and holidaymakers not to leave valuable items in their cars when they are going the beach.
