One dead, 13 injured in weekend accidents
Salt Rock roadworks without signage apparently dangerous.
Twelve people were injured after a taxi overturned on the N2 south bound just after the Ballito off-ramp on Saturday afternoon.
Netcare 911 paramedics and other services, including IPSS Medical Rescue and the Ballito Specialised Rescue Unit, found the taxi had stopped on its wheels on the side of the road.
Passengers sustained moderate to serious injuries and were treated before being taken to hospital.
One person died after rolling his car multiple times near Zinkwazi on Sunday morning.
“The driver was declared dead due to his extensive injuries,” said IPSS Medical Rescue paramedic Paul Herbst.
A 38-year-old man fractured his leg and dislocated his shoulder in a motorcycle accident yesterday afternoon, in Salt Rock.
Ballito Specialised Rescue Unit’s Quentin Power said he believed that roadworks without proper signage may have caused the accident.
Netcare911, Specialised Rescue Unit and IPSS Medical Rescue were on scene.
