Two Ballito sisters, who are passionate about helping others, managed to collect more than 3 000 sanitary pads, which they distributed to orphaned and underprivileged girls at the Nkobongo Resource Centre recently.
Miss Ballito 2014 first princess Michayla Shone and her sister Savannah, an Ashton International College grade 11 pupil, set about collecting the pads when they heard that young girls often miss a week of school every month when they there menstruating because they cannot afford to buy the necessary sanitary wear.
They handed the pads over after explaining how the products are used as well as other basic information on female hygiene and preventing unwanted pregnancies.
Michayla and Savannah would like to take pads to the girls monthly.
