Traffic congestion manic at Ballito entrance

Expect delays.

Traffic is backed up along the M4, across the N2 bridge and onto the freeway as construction workers move lanes at the entrance to Ballito.

The P445 (Ballito Drive) widening to six lanes is underway and traffic flow was to be switched from one half to the other during the placing of the asphalt wearing course – a surface treatment which increases the resistance of a concrete pavement.

The removal of the last remaining circle, where the M4 meets the P445, was completed today. It is now a four-way stop.

In an attempt to avoid the severe traffic jam, frustrated drivers have been taking the the back road behind Hirsch’s across the the single lane bridge. This is reported to now also be congested.
