Six accidents in one night on North Coast

Three-year-old child critical.

Paramedics were on high alert last night with no less than six accidents between 8 pm and 1am along the Dolphin Coast.

Three people were injured after a motor vehicle overturned on the N2 north bound by Tinely Manor.

Netcare 911 paramedics and other services found the vehicle on its roof.  Three people had sustained minor to moderate injuries.

According to IPSS Medical Rescue’s Paul Herbst the next accident was on the N2 near Umhlali, where two vehicles collided and rolled.

The three patients included a three-year-old child with critical injuries.

In the next accident a family of five in a VW mini bus collided with a bakkie on the N2 near Chaka’s Rock.

The family had allegedly been travelling from Gateway to Eshowe.

“Ihe bakkie was apparently driving on the wrong side of the highway,” said Herbst.

Four patients were taken to hospital.

A mercedes benz rolled on the N2 at Ballito and the driver escaped uninjured.

On the R102 near Maidstone there was a head-on collision between a bakkie and a taxi.

The two people in the bakkie had to be extracted using the Jaws of Life.

Then on the N2 before the Umvoti Toll northbound a vehicle lost control and crashed next to the road.

One patient was treated with minor injuries.
